Low Testosterone and Mesa TRT FAQ’s
In recent decades, studies have shown that American men are experiencing a significant decrease in testosterone levels. This trend is not just related to aging; it affects men of all ages, including younger adults. For example, a study found that a 45-year-old man in 2002 had lower testosterone levels than a similar man in 1987.
Here are additional studies that report a decline in testosterone levels in men over time:
A study reported in Urology Times found that testosterone levels have declined at an unprecedented pace in the past few decades. The study provided data showing that mean total testosterone decreased from 605.39 ng/dL in 1999-2000 to 424.96 ng/dL in 2011-2012.
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism observed a “substantial” drop in U.S. men’s testosterone levels since the 1980s.
Patients usually notice an increase in libido, while their partner’s libido remains the same. Some patients may also experience facial acne.
A patient typically starts to notice improvements in symptoms such as morning erections within 2 to 3 weeks of starting TRT. Other benefits, such as enhanced brain function, stronger muscles, healthier bones, better heart health, revitalized sexual health, and vibrant skin, may become more noticeable over time as treatment continues.
We prescribe all members of our TRT program to self-administer injections twice a week. While it’s not a rule, we recommend Monday and Thursday. This keeps testosterone levels balanced throughout the week.
To qualify for TRT you need to have a blood draw. This can be done at any local LabCorp. We review your labs and determine if you indeed have Low-Testosterone and can benefit from treatment.
The duration of TRT will depend on individual factors, including the underlying cause of Low T and the patient’s response to treatment. Some men may require long-term TRT to maintain optimal testosterone levels, while others may undergo a shorter course of treatment.
